Kinship Center's Family Ties Program gives thanks for Thanksgiving Dinners made possible by Community Members
This year, several Monterey County families will be able to have a Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the generous efforts of various community members.
Family Ties works to help children remain connected to their families and a familiar environment, by keeping them with relatives instead of having to enter into the child welfare system. "Most of these caregivers are grandmothers, living on fixed or low incomes that struggle to balance the financial impact of taking on the care of their grandchildren." said Charles Chambers, Program Director. "This generosity allows our families to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.”
This year we are looking at distributing approximately 80 Thanksgiving dinners. Along with the donations from the VOS Racing Team, we also received a donation from Ms. Mary Cleaver. For at least the past seven years she has donated 20-25 turkey dinners for our families."
