FAQs

Kinship Center offers many resources and education opportunities for adoptive and foster parents as well as kinship caregivers. Additionally, we provide specialized training for child welfare professionals and mental health practitioners working with children and families. Our premiere course for professionals is ACT: An Adoption and Permanency Curriculum for Child Welfare and Children’s Mental Health Professionals. During 2012, we will be launching our Advanced Practice Series for Professionals, a series of 6-hour courses covering topics such as Trauma, Historical Trauma, Adoption and Openness, and Kinship Care. The Education Institute also develops custom trainings for organizations upon request. Please visit our faculty page to learn more.

For parents, the Education Institute presents our Pathways to Permanence Series Part 1, for parents to attend before a child is placed in their family, and Part 2, designed to support parents post-placement. The Education Institute also offers the Love and Logic series, day camps for parents and families, and custom-designed training upon request. The Education Institute offers families and professionals the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom via our professionally produced education DVDs.  In the near future, the Education Institute will also offer online courses and webinars. You may also be interested in our White Paper Series, written by our faculty experts on a variety of topics and interest areas.
