What is the adoption process?
Individuals interested in adoption can contact Kinship Center by telephone or email and express their interest. They will be invited to a monthly Information Meeting where they will receive a complete explanation of the adoption process. Following the Information Meeting, prospective parents will be invited to complete a Questionnaire and return it to Kinship Center. Once that form is received and reviewed, a Registration Packet will be sent to the family to complete and return. Once the Registration Packet is received back by a social worker at Kinship Center, an interview will be scheduled to review the family's desire to become adoptive parents. If the parents and the social worker decide to move ahead, then an Adoption Application is issued and the Home Study/Assessment begins. A Home Study involves a series of interviews, training classes, fingerprint clearances, and the gathering of additional required documents. Once the Home Study is completed, a matching process begins to find the best family for a child.
