What is the cost of adoption?
The cost of adoption depends on whether or not the child was voluntarily placed by his/her parents for adoption or if the child was removed involuntarily from his/her birth family due to negative circumstances. If the child is placed in your home for the purpose of adoption and that child is a dependent of the Court and was removed from his or her birth parents due to negative circumstances, there is no fee charged to the family. If the child was voluntarily placed for adoption, a fee is assessed based upon the services provided. When services, both legal and therapeutic (counseling of the birth mother), are provided to the family on behalf of the child, Kinship Center’s maximum fee is approximately $12,000.
