FAQs

Wraparound is a philosophy of care that is community based, culturally relevant, individualized, strength based, and family centered. To be eligible, a child must have severe emotional and/or behavioral difficulties and is currently placed in or is at risk of being placed in a residential or correctional facility. The ultimate goal is to maintain the child in a home setting and to link support systems that will build upon child/family/community strengths to improve theoverall child and family functioning. Wraparound distinguishes itself from traditional "expert-driven" models of special education or mental health services with unique features such as: (a) the utilization of professional and family/school/community supports as team members; (b) the voice of the family and youth guides the design and actions of the team; (c) theteam composition and interventions reflect the unique youth and family strengths and needs; and (d) the plan addresses outcomes across multiple environments and includes all members of the family. Simply put, the Wraparound process is a network of care that will do "whatever it takes"; it begins with the child but ends with the family.
